Welcome! Thank you for your interest in St. Madeleine Sophie School. We are a Catholic
school accommodating grades Kindergarten through Grade 5 serving over two hundred
students. We also have a full time Daycare as well as a Pre-Kindergarten program. Our
students and their families come to us from fourteen different school districts throughout
the Guilderland region, and in nearly all cases, these districts provide bus transportation for
our children. Our school is located in a quiet suburban setting.
It is our mission to provide excellence within a Christian atmosphere and to prepare its
students to take their places as responsible members of Church and society. This mission
includes teaching the message of Jesus, while building a service based community. We
provide students with a safe, caring environment while offering excellent academic
programs within the framework of Catholic Christian values. This is achieved by working
closely with our students and their parents as we nurture the spiritual, intellectual, social,
emotional and physical development of our children.
Allow us to answers the most frequently asked questions regarding our school:
· St. Madeleine Sophie School follows the N.Y.S. curriculum in conjunction with the
curriculum of the Albany Catholic Diocese. Our students take all of the New York State
mandated tests and, as a school, we have substantially outperformed our public school
counterparts
· Our Kindergarten programs are full day, running from 8:00 am to 2:25 pm. Daycare
is available for 3 and 4 year olds from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. We offer a Pre-
Kindergarten Program that is available for 3 and 4 year olds. This program offers two
sessions an am session runs from 8:30 am to 11:30 am and our pm session runs from 12:30
pm to 3:30 pm
· We have an After School Care Program available to all students in grades K through 5
until 5:30 pm each day
· Our average class size is 20 students
· Spanish, Technology, Art, Music, Library and Physical Education classes are taught to
grades K - 5. Our Daycare Program offers Music and Physical Education classes
· Remediation and Enrichment classes are available
· Our students enjoy a playground and acres of fields for student recess and recreation
· Students have the option to participate in band, bowling, skiing, CYO basketball, and
scouting
· We offer a daily lunch program for our students
